Frequently asked questions

Clear, no-nonsense answers about the service, roof preparation, pricing and warranty.

How does Shingle Serum rejuvenate asphalt shingles?+

It is a tall-oil formula that penetrates weathered asphalt and replaces the lightweight oils the sun has burned away. As it soaks in, loose granules bond back to the surface and the restored oils make each shingle flexible again, so it resists cracking as temperatures swing. The treatment works from the inside out — rehydrating, resealing and reinforcing the roof you already own.

What makes tall oil better than soy-based treatments?+

Tall oil is chemically similar to the original maltenes inside asphalt shingles, so it binds with aged bitumen instead of sitting on top. That means deeper penetration, better UV shielding and performance that holds up through years of heat cycles. Soy-based products may soften shingles for a season but oxidise quickly at high temperatures.

How much does a treatment cost?+

Every roof is different, so we quote after a free inspection and measurement. Your quote always includes the inspection, soft wash, full application, photo documentation and warranty registration — and it is a small fraction of a full tear-off and replacement.

Is the treatment safe for pets and landscaping?+

Yes. There is no bleach and no harsh solvents, so overspray will not scorch grass, stain siding or harm curious pets. Our crew lightly rinses plants before and after application. You can stay inside during the work and pets can return outdoors once the mist settles, usually within an hour.

How long does the added protection last?+

Applied properly, Shingle Serum extends the useful life of a typical asphalt roof by seven to ten years, and it is backed by a written 7-year limited product warranty. Results depend on shingle age, ventilation and weather exposure, and periodic inspections let us verify performance and recommend a follow-up when needed.

Can it be applied in hot, humid weather?+

Absolutely. Heat and humidity do not prevent application, but we schedule early-morning or late-afternoon windows to avoid peak surface temperatures. The roof must be dry for proper absorption, so we watch the forecast and reschedule at no charge if storms are likely. Curing takes roughly four to six hours.

Will the application change the colour of my shingles?+

Most homeowners notice a richer, more uniform shade, because the serum replenishes oils that darken asphalt slightly. It is not a paint or a dye — the original colour tone stays, while fading, streaks and patchiness become far less visible. Any temporary sheen settles within a few weeks.

Do you offer a warranty on every application?+

Yes. Every application carries the manufacturer's written 7-year limited product warranty. If treated shingles fail the standardised flexibility test in that window, replacement product is supplied on a prorated basis. The warranty covers the product itself, not labour or damage from extreme weather.
